Jason Statham is an actor who has much talent when it comes to action movies. He can throw the kicks and punches at the bad guys to get viewer’s blood pumping, woo the ladies with his accent, and make every guy want to be him. His newest movie Death Race was a surprise for me. I really like Statham, but some of his recent movies have kind of blown. Death Race is exhilarating, and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I had a good time watching it.
The movie takes place in 2012. It’s a prelude of supposedly of what’s to come. The stock market crashes and the U.S. economy is in shambles. Of course these events cause the crime rate to go up, therefore increasing the prison population. Reality TV makes its way to the prison where Death Race is formed. The concept of the game is to race your armored car or truck, which is heavily armed to kill, to the finish line. All this takes place on a secluded island where the prison is located. Statham is a former NASCAR driver who has been framed for his wife’s murder, and in a coincidence ends up going to this prison that could use his kind of skills.
I loved the movie Running Man with Arnold Schwarzenegger. It’s sort of a cross between Road Warrior and Running Man. Now I know that it is a remake, but who cares about a dumb movie that doesn’t have nowhere near the visual graphics we have today. I like explosions but I also like great execution of the story line. Yeah, it was a little predictable but that’s why I give it a B minus. Fun, exciting, and worth taking an hour and a half out of your day to go see if you like cars and action. A couple negative things I have to say about it is that there could have been more racing than what they showed. It seemed as though the races were far too short. Another negative was the reality of the warden being a woman, probably not possible. IDK maybe she’s badass lol! Anyways, check it out and tell me what you think.
Hey Pattycakes, I still have not seen this movie. I am going to have to make a special trip somewhere to see it though. Damn our small-ass cinema.

you say it is unlikely that the warden is a woman? are we talking a butch woman of a hot chick? just curious because I could see a biker bitch running a prison.

Ok, so I just watched me some Death Race and it kicked some serious ass! However, there were parts of it that just made me sick the way it was filmed. I really feel like they were trying to be creative with their film angles and what not but it really blew.
The plot was great and I loved the twist. I also like the fact that they gave credit to the original, Death Race 2000 in the opening credits. So many remakes dont feel this is necessary. I know, just personal preference.

Yeah, I haven’t go to see it yet but my wife went to see it yesterday without me. :(. So I think I may go see it sometime this week. :)
